Site Deterioration, Cheating Guides Top List of Concerns about Thai Tourism.

Feb. 22--Tourism industry leaders yesterday singled out five critical problems that need urgent attention if Thailand is to achieve its desired status as the "Tourism Capital of Asia".

Concerns topping the list were the rehabilitation of deteriorating attractions and tackling the problem of illegal guides who cheat tourists.

Representatives from Krabi and Trat provinces said laws needed to be made clearer and enforced better, as current laws were not effective and many powerful local people were still exploiting the natural resources for their own benefit.
