ALBANY - While John Ryan makes his way through his first weeks as the State University of New York's acting chancellor - meeting almost every campus president, memorizing the system's vast map of 64 campuses and pitching the university's virtues to lawmakers - he's come up with one early observation:
"I'd like to see more trust at all levels," said Ryan, a retired vice admiral in the Navy who was president of SUNY Maritime College until last month. He also served as interim president at the University at Albany until February.
