FED: Murray says volunteers are not a party problem
The Australian Democrats say they can't be held responsible for the actions of a volunteer
alleged to have accepted a donation from the ALP during the 1996 federal election.
The Australian Electoral Commission is expected to announce today if there'll be an
official investigation into the passing of money from Labor candidate WAYNE SWAN through
party workers to Democrats candidate ANDREW HIPWOOD.
Democrats Senator ANDREW MURRAY says the party records hold no mention of a campaign
manager accepting the money.
And he says they can't be held responsible for the actions of unpaid volunteers, who
were accepted at face value.
