As an accessory, a lampshade can dress up a room, conceal a glaring lightbulb and lend a warm, soft glow.

Changing the lampshade is a relatively inexpensive way to give a room a new look.

Paper is a beautiful and decorative element for lampshades, said Dottie Verch, owner of The Lighting Place in Guilderland. ``There are various papers to select from, including waxed and rice papers,'' she said.
